Message from our Principal

Michelle HollyHello and welcome to St. Mary’s School, Northcote. It is my great privilege to be Principal of this wonderful Catholic School, situated on the North Shore in Auckland. We serve the parishes of St. Mary’s, Northcote, St. Thomas More, Glenfield and Maria Assumpta, Beach Haven. The focus at St. Mary’s is on providing the best possible Catholic education to each of our students, guided by our Charism of Unity – Kotahitanga, Respect – Manaakitanga, Compassion – Aroha that is based on the values of the Dominican and Mercy religious orders that established our school.

As Principal of St. Mary’s, Northcote, it is my personal vision that every child at our school is able to be personally successful in all aspects of his or her life – our aim is to develop well-balanced young people who are equipped to participate and contribute positively to the communities they are part of, both now and in their future. In order for this to happen, our teachers need to be the very best that they can be and at the leading edge of education, with a focus on constantly learning and reflecting to ensure they are doing the best job they can for their students.

St. Mary’s is a future-focused school, where our children are at the centre of the learning. During their time in our school, they develop as people who are problem finders and problem solvers, who know themselves as learners and are able to manage and make decisions about their own learning. They are given a solid foundation in the basic skills of literacy and numeracy and enjoy a rich curriculum that is authentic and meaningful to them.
