Principal’s Message
Tēnā koutou, Tēnā koutou, Tēnā koutou katoa. A very warm welcome to St Mary’s School, Northcote.
St Mary’s, Northcote is situated on the beautiful North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand and provides the very best Catholic education for children in Years 0 – 6. As a school, we are big enough to provide a wide range of educational and extra-curricular opportunities for our children, but small enough to remain a well-connected community school. Our people are our strength and our Catholic faith is the cornerstone of all we do.
We are a diverse community; our students come from all over the world and we believe that this offers a distinct educational opportunity to all of our children. As a Catholic school however, we also share a focus on living our Gospel values of unity – kotahitanga, respect – manaakitanga, compassion – atawhaitanga and truth – pono. We have wonderful children, a supportive parent community and highly-skilled and committed educators and support staff.
Our large, well-established school site includes a mix of both older and new accommodation, extensive fields and courts, a heated swimming pool, a nature trail, an animal corner and a variety of playgrounds. We are very well-resourced and all classrooms benefit from a range of digital technologies.
Our children learn in the breadth and the depth of the New Zealand Curriculum, with a particular focus on incorporating our Catholic worldview and designing learning that meets the individual passions, strengths and needs of our learners. Our curriculum is future-focused and encourages our children and our staff to be innovative and curious and to strive for personal growth and development, both spiritually and academically.
